About Kelly Norris
Kelly started swimming lessons at 2 months old and nippers at age 4. He started school at Saratoga Primary School in 2000 and first attended a state nipper carnival at age 8, later that year moving with his family to Coolum Beach, Queensland so that Kelly could concentrate on Nippers as he was already a State Ocean Swim Champion.
In Queensland, Kelly developed his skills and was a Champion Ironman, winning medals at State when he was 11 and then deciding he just wanted to surf, and now that is his life.
Kellys first surf comp was the Wahoo Grom Comp U/12 where he came 4th and he has been competing heavily and loving it since.
After reaching the final of the Rusty Gromfest U/12 boys in 2007 and finishing 3rd, Shotgun Surfboards picked him up and were a great supporter of Kelly for the first part of his surfing career.
His major sponsors currently are Firewire Surfboards, Emjays Coffee Coolum, Futures Fins, Maxum Watches. FK Unlimited, House Of Marley, Gangster Energy Drink, Xcel Wetsuits, The Athletes Secret Weapon and Legado.
Kelly now works part time for Alex Surf to help fund his career and spends the rest of his time training hard and improving his surfing. Kellys hobbies outside of surfing include 4 wheel driving, tennis & wake boarding
Kelly has numerous competition results with his highlights being U/18 Queensland state champion 2011, 1st Carve Pro Junior 2014, Qualified for the World Pro Junior Titles 2014, Qualified for the U.S Open pro junior 2015
Kelly is constantly developing and evolving his surfing and style. He is always working hard, investing in himself to go to the next level and his future in this sport is bright! Keep watching this space…
